MY PRACTICE
Compassion, empowerment, individualization, and science are the foundations of my practice.
Compassion and empathy are the hallmark of my relationship with my clients. I am for you.
My goal is for you to thrive in all the ways that you were uniquely created to thrive, and I want to empower you to get there!

Treatment is a collaborative effort: I bring the research evidence and clinical expertise, and you bring the knowledge of yourself, lived, personal experience, and therapy goals. Together we will work to establish a treatment plan to meet your needs.

I employ evidence-based practice, which means that I believe that quality scientific research is the best guide for mental health practitioners in selecting which treatment to administer for each individual client. In addition to employing the best available evidence and clinical recommendations to inform your care, evidence-based practice also means that I carefully adapt and individualize the recommended treatment for you.
Everyone is unique and each treatment will look different and will be based on your unique qualities.
I avidly consume research for the purpose of implementing the best care to my clients.
I am trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. I have specific training in working with individuals experiencing disordered eating, binge eating disorder, body image concerns, depression, and anxiety. I also have assessment expertise in diagnosing psychiatric disorders.
I believe that clients and their loved ones should be informed about the treatment they/their loved ones are receiving, so I will carefully explain the research informing the recommended treatment and am happy to guide you to additional resources.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Psychotherapy is not easily described in general statements. It varies depending on the personalities of the psychologist and client as well as the particular therapy goals you may have. Psychotherapy calls for a very active effort on your part, including working on things we talk about both during and outside of our sessions.
Psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Because therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings. On the other hand, psychotherapy has also been shown to have benefits for people who actively participate in it.
In my work with clients, I typically begin with a longer (90-minute) clinical intake session, where I begin to learn about you and your goals for our work together. This evaluation period can take from two to four sessions and may involve structured and/or unstructured interviews as well as self-report questionnaires.
At the end of this evaluation period, I will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work will include and a recommended, evidence-based treatment plan, should you decide to work with me. I encourage you to consider your own opinions about whether you feel comfortable working with me and if you think I am the best person to provide the services you need in order to meet your treatment goals.

My goal is to provide you with the best care possible, even if that means referring you to another professional who is better equipped to help you. If we agree to begin psychotherapy, we will typically schedule one (45-minute) session per week or every other week.
TELEPSYCHOLOGY
Telepsychology refers to providing psychotherapy services remotely using telecommunications technologies, such as video conferencing or telephone. In lieu of an in-person practice, I conduct psychotherapy via telepsychology or telehealth. This means that you and I will use video conferencing technology for all evaluation and treatment sessions. Telepsychology is not the same as a direct client/health care provider visit due to the fact that I will not be in the same room as you. It is important for you to know that there are potential risks to telepsychology and to consider whether this is the right fit for you. You or I can discontinue the telehealth care if it is felt that the videoconferencing connections are not adequate for your situation.
